Hi everyone,
Jeff was passionate about the Chombo project right up to his final days in Africa. In fact Terry and the family delivered food and supplies to Chombo just a few days after Jeff died. While they were there the villagers held a memorial service for Jeff.
It is Jeff and the family’s wish that the Chombo project continue. The village continues to need food. The “bore hole” project to put in a well for the village so they can irrigate their own crops year round is still underway.
Pat has figured out how to get the funds to Zimbabwe without being diverted to the wrong governmental hands. Once there, the funds are used to buy local food and deliver it to the village with some funds being set aside for the bore hole.
Please continue to support this project in Jeff’s honor and for the benefit of the villagers. Please call Pat if you have any questions at 503-646-2905. Although your contributions are probably are not tax deductible, they are sorely needed and all are appreciated.
- Checks should be made payable to “Patricia Cook” with “Chombo” in the comment line and mailed to

Hi everyone,
This is Pat Cook, Jeff’s mom, again. First, I want to thank all of you who have contributed to Jeff and Terry’s mission in Chombo. It has been very heartwarming, like the money sent from my friend Mac, who lives in Virginia and who doesn’t know Jeff or Terry at all. In his note, he explained how he and his wife had been out to Red Lobster one night and brought home some of those delicious biscuits. As he sat at his breakfast table the next morning, eating those biscuits, he said all he could see was starving black people so he sent another check. His check was for $55.00, which will feed three people for a month. Mac has now sent several checks, totaling $205.00.
Or like my hair dresser who wouldn’t accept payment for my last haircut. She said the people in Chombo needed it more than she did. And there was the lady in my neighborhood who gave me her Bunco earnings of $25.00, friends from Detroit Lake who sent $250.00 and a friend at my gym donated $10.00.
It doesn’t matter how large or small, it all adds up and is important. I have set up a special bank account just for the purpose of collecting all of the funds I receive and I have been distributing money to Jeff and Terry on a monthly basis.
Now, we have a problem. There is only enough money left in that account to feed the village through this month and half of April.
Many of you have made comments in Jeff and Terry’s blog that you would like to help. Well, you can. Please call me at 503-646-2905. Although your contributions probably are not tax deductible, they are sorely needed and all are appreciated. I am hoping to hear from many more of you.

Hi – It’s Jeff’s mom, Pat here. They gave me access to post on the blog so I can help to coordinate the funding for the food for the villagers in Chombo.
If you haven’t read about the “Life Changing Experience” please read these posts first.
Jeff and Terry have already purchased and delivered dozens of bags & boxes of much need staples. Each bag of “mealie meal” $18 and they paid for them themselves! On the last trip some villagers hadn’t eaten in days so they committed to regular deliveries trusting that the funds and their car (now totaled) would allow them to make the deliveries.
Many of you asked how you can help Jeff & Terry as they help the 100 villagers of Chombo. I found a way to get money to Jeff via a missionary working with a church in Tigard. My family decided to support the villagers instead of spending money on Christmas this year so we tested the process and Jeff already has several hundred dollars from our family. The church is accepting only one check a month which will be transferred to the missionary in Harare who will then get the funds to Jeff who in turn will buy food and get it to the villagers of Chombo.
If you can help, please makes checks payable to Patricia Cook and send them to me at:

In the short term your donations need to come to me and I will write the check to the church. Since I am retired I do not need the tax deduction, and I cannot pass the deduction formally on to you, but for the church won’t take dozens of checks each month. I will send each of you a receipt indicating the purpose of your check but you’ll have to work out with your tax folks if you want to use that as a deduction.
If you have any questions please call or reply to this entry.
Blessings,
Pat – Jeff’s mom
